A Message from Scott (GGT Founder)

Welcome!

I get a lot of questions about Going Green Today: Why did you do it? What are your hopes? Is it just you or are there others who work with you? Who is really behind this, Exxon? ...my fav ;-)

Well first and foremost, I believe we can prevent the climate from being negatively impacted by human activity. We are NOT beyond hope! Apathy is the only thing that can stop a person from fulfilling their true potential.

We have the chance to work smarter, not harder. A clean world is right at our fingertips! The solutions already exist, people just need to know about them. The problem is that most people never get a chance to learn what these solutions are.

I have observed that most people want to be "green" but just don't yet know how. And it's not easy to learn in the midst of managing a busy life. I put my head into trying to find an easy solution to these hurdles. I wanted to find a way that would cover all the areas of "green" at least enough to be a solid introduction and help people form new habits. I particularly wanted to help busy parents and overworked singles.

At first I intended this to be a "go green" consulting service offered directly to individuals. However, during the second year of my research, I realized that even if I worked 18 hours a day and hired 100 more consultants we wouldn't make a dent on the amount of greenhouse gas reductions we would need to steer us out of danger. So, I created this website that would offer a 90-day structured educational program that engages the user to learn AND do the simple things by accomplishing their homework one day at a time.

This way, Going Green Today has the chance of reaching millions of people in a short amount of time. THAT is enough of a collective dent to keep us out of trouble.

With your help and just 90 days of focus, we can do this!

P.S. By the way, it's not just me doing this. GoingGreenToday.com is a TEAM of individuals who are committed in their own lives to reducing their carbon impact. You can find us "commuting" to home offices and nearby coffeeshops (via bicycle, of course) in various points all over the world. In our off-time we participate in many sustainability initiatives (such as urban homesteading, sustainable agriculture, clean building, etc.) and the communities that support them.
